Genn and I were devastated to learn today of the death of Jack Schell, the Soundweaver—the multidimensional musician, composer, and painter in sound who created our intro music.

We never met Jack in person. Our friend and illustrator Jayel Draco put us in touch with him as we were getting Fangirl off the ground, and he created intro and outro music that completely nailed the dreamy and dangerous ancient-history vibe we were looking for—all sight unseen, and after listening to only our first episode.

Jack’s music made our first podcast feel like the real thing. I distinctly remember putting it into our first episode and thinking, wow, this is really happening! We owe Jack our thanks for that amazing feeling.

His music is the first and last thing our listeners hear on every episode, and we hope in this small way to help continue his memory. We are deeply saddened and our hearts go out to his family and loved ones.

You can hear his music here.
